Kemal YENI




Lieutenant General Kemal Yeni was born in 1963 in Mersin, İçel. He graduated from the Army Military Academy as an Artillery Second Lieutenant in 1985.  Following training and education at the Artillery and Missile School Command, he served as Platoon Leader and Battery Commander at various artillery and air defense units culminating in unit command of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion, 2003-05.   


He attended the Army War College in 1997, graduating as a General Staff Captain and going on to fulfilling assignments in training branches and on operations staffs as well as service with the Stabilisation Force (SFOR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  From 2000-03 he served in HQ AFSOUTH in Naples with a focus on Partnership for Peace (PfP) exercise planning.


After unit command his postings included: Planning and Coordination Branch Head in the Department of Military History and Strategic Study (ATASE); the Turkish General Staff; Chief of Staff and then Deputy Commanding General of 10th Motorized Infantry Brigade in Tatvan in Bitlis Province; and National Strategy Branch Head back in the General Staff. From 2011-15 he commanded the 58th Artillery Brigade in Polatlı near Ankara before returning to the General Staff once more as Logistics Division Chief.  From August 2016 he served as Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council for one year before taking over as Chief of Operations, Headquarters Turkish General Staff.  He assumed command of NRDC-T (3rd Corps) on 13 August 2018.


Lieutenant General Yeni is married and has two children.
